Mus musculus
"House mice have an adult body length (nose to base of tail) of 7.5–10 cm and a tail length of 5–10 cm. The weight is typically 10–25 g. They vary in color from white to grey to light brown to black. They have short hair and a light belly. The ears and tail have little hair. The hind feet are short compared to Apodemus mice, only 15–19 mm long; the normal gait is a run with a stride of about 4.5 cm, though they can jump vertically up to 45 cm. The voice is a high-pitched squeak." ~ wiki
An introduced species to Egypt; "Inhabits a wide range of habitat from agricultural areas, villages, towns, cities to coastal desert. Also beaches, seashore, sale marshes, meadows, canal banks, and palm and olive groves. Absent only from true desert." ~ A Field Guide to the Mammals of Egypt
I saw this mouse in my house a few days ago, and then this morning, the poor little thing was in my bathtub and couldn't get himself out. And instead of squealing and running away, I actually went to get my camera! (Thank you PN!) After a few shots, we put a stick in so he could get out...of the tub, but he is still somewhere in my house. Safe though, as typically, my pet cat prefers to make friends with mice! ;-)
