Rarely seen on land...uncommon. Nests on Arctic tundra, Our largest Jaeger L 18.5" WS 52" WT 1.5 lb A lifer for me!

Habitat:

tundra..this bird was seen at Ft. DeSoto County Park FL

Notes:

On tundra eats mostly lemmings, at sea fish often stolen from other seabirds

Thanks Maria...many locals got a lifer this week by traveling to see this very cooperative bird.

I don't think anyone is quite sure why it appeared at Ft. DeSoto and has been there for about a week...they are hardly ever seen on shore but one was seen on shore at Siesta beach just recently too...maybe the storms.
