Description:

Small passerine bird, 12 to 15 cm of total length, from Sittidae family. Easily recognized by big head, (almost) neckless body and long pointed bill, with a rusty-buff breast and belly. Subspecies caesia is widespread in continental Europe.

Habitat:

Eurasian is the commonest nuthatch, and subspecies caesia is widespread in continental Europe. Seen foraging on deciduous woods in protected marshlands of Mategnin. Semi-urban suburbs of Geneva.
