Spotting

Description:

Black longitudinally striped caterpillar with yellow central stripe on back and below black eye spots along sides. Eye spots at back, no spines or bumps.

Habitat:

Subtropical gardens. Appearing en masse on spider lilies.

Notes:

Not seen except when appearing in masses reducing large fleshy plants to small mounds of mush.

Yes that looks like them. Voracious little buggers, eliminating 2m river lily plants over night was impressive even if disturbing. Gardening lesson learned.
