Pickerel Frog

Lithobates palustris

Description:

Looks much like a leopard frog (same genus) but it has large "squarish" spots on its back that run in 2 rows (instead of random), has a spot on the nose, and has yellow coloration on the underside of the legs. The skin has noxious secretions so always wash your hands after handling. Found this one when I worked on the Mofep Project.

Habitat:

Missouri Ozarks, forest.
