Popillia japonica
Watching me with anger :) Around sunny afternoon, he was resting on a leaf...After he looks at me trying to capture his photo, he gets angry and gives a still nice pose....Beetle 10- 15mm in size with iridescent copper-colored elytra and green thorax and head.
It is not very destructive in Japan, where it is controlled by natural predators, but in America it is a serious pest of about 200 species of plants, including rose bushes, grapes, hops, canna, crape myrtles, birch trees, linden trees and others.
Adult Japanese beetles cause serious injury to leaves and flowers of many ornamentals, fruits, and vegetables. Japanese beetle consist of a pair of crossed walls with a bag underneath, and are baited with floral scent, pheromone, or both.
@S Frazier : Actually it was in anthropods category in beginning. due to a suggestion i changed it to others...now i correctly got that it belongs to anthropods...thank you very much...
I'm sorry. I changed this to Arthropods because all insects belong to that group. When you say "Again changed" do you mean you changed it back to "Other"? For general information, the group "other" is for those organisms that do not fit into the specific group categories. For example, "Other" includes but is not limited to: starfish, snails, clams, squid, worms, octopus and ... others. I will change it to "arthropods" again. This is where it belongs.
Nice spotting! I think you accidentally added this into my Moths mission, though! Do you mind removing it? Thanks so much!
