Bull Kelp

Nereocystis luetkeana

Habitat:

Anchored to rocky substrate in areas of high wave and current action in inter- and sub-tidal areas up to 20 m deep.

Notes:

seen while on Alaska cruise snorkel tour. Note: Kelp is a green algae, some Bio books place them in the plant kingdom, all algae is sometimes placed in the kingdom protista, and then there's the kingdom Chromista for photosynthetic algae, so I've chosen to place this spotting under other rather than plant.
