Common Bushbrown

Mycalesis perseus caesonia

Description:

Nymphalidae; Satyrinae; Mycalesis perseus caesonia Wallengren 1860 (wet season form). I spotted this butterfly just after 9:00 am this morning. This species is common here and I have taken many photos of it over the years. So, I recognised it immediately and knew that the encounter would quickly turn into a chase. I only managed to take three useable pictures and the others were very poor shots. So I gave up on the chase and settled for what you see here.

Habitat:

Spotted on grasses and foliage in our backyard.

Notes:

A recent spotting of same species - https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/62...
