Fungus

Schizophyllum commune

Description:

A white fluffy-looking fungus growing on the bark of a live tree, the largest about 8 cm wide. They seem to form a mat on the bark in a crevice before forming the shelf (see bottom of the third picture). The last picture shows a more developed (?) lacy fringe.

Habitat:

Mayan Ruins of Chicanná, Biosphere Reserve of Calakmul.
