Description:

Golden-yellow sphere of six-petaled flowers with projecting stamens, gives the flower "a starburst look". Leaves: three palmate leaflets on long stem.

Habitat:

Dry open steppe land. Alkaline, volcanic soils. Eastern Oregon and northeast California. This sighting at the northwestern edge of its range.
