Large Tolype Moth

Description:

Family: Lasiocampidae. Lappet Moths. 1.25 inches long. Very fuzzy. Gray/dark brown and white. Very fuzzy. Hosts: Variety of plants. Adults have no mouth parts and therefore do not eat.

Habitat:

Near woodlands and meadow. Found on house.

Notes:

Spotted during the day on the house and then flew to the front walk of house. This one has more pronounced veins in the wings; thinner fur on wings. Tear in wings. Rough shape compared to the first moth found. Easily attaches to finger as do the silk moths and other moths without mouth parts. First photo taken in sun, all other photos in shade.
