Description:

'The roots were used as a tea for nervousness and anxiety as well as outright madness in the mid 1800's.'

Habitat:

found from Quebec and Newfoundland then south to Georgia and west to New Mexico and Arizona as well as temperate Asia and Europe in woodlands, swamps and bogs and rocky wooded slopes and in marshes where it is found on limestone in shaded woodlands.

Notes:

I spotted beautiful huge clumps of these growing along a back road in Bruce Peninsula national park.
