Large Salmon Arab Chrysalis

Colotis fausta

Description:

about 2 cm in length

Habitat:

On the caper bush (Capparis sp) in my desert garden

Notes:

I only know what critter this belongs to because I raised one indoors a couple of weeks ago, after finding a then-unknown caterpillar on this same caper bush. (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/144...) I was so excited to find this one in my garden and to see this color of chrysalis since the one raised indoors was pale-colored. I am waiting anxiously for the butterfly to emerge! UPDATE: Butterfly never emerged. After several weeks, I finally removed the chrysalis and it was dry and empty.
