A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Argia vivida
Striking blue-colored damselfly. This was spotted in an urban area...likes our flower beds. They are beneficial, as one of their favored diets is mosquito larvae. I have seen these in our area from mid-spring to late summer.
While spotted in this case in an urban area, I have seen this species in riparian areas along springs and creeks in the Mojave Desert.

What is in your own yard is just as interesting and precious and anything else! This is in part what Project Noah is about :-)
Thanks Danielle...sometimes it is a stretch to find something to post. When I find a spotting in my own yard, it is a lot easier to deal with than traveling many miles, and spending a lot more time elsewhere.
Great shots Jim! Good info too.
