Bog turtle

Glyptemys muhlenbergii

Description:

Semi-aquatic turtle endemic to the eastern United States. It is the smallest North American turtle. Listed as Critically Endangered under the IUCN.

Habitat:

Wet meadows, bogs, marshes and spring seeps, that have both wet and dry regions. It uses soft, deep mud to shelter from predators and the weather.
