Broad-fronted Mangrove Crab

Metopograpsus frontalis

Description:

Body to no more than 30mm across, but mostly smaller. Smooth shell, narrowing towards the back. Mottled blue, brown, purple with orange borders.

Habitat:

Common in sheltered mud or muddy-sand environments from mangroves to sheltered rocky shores & intertidal zones. Northern Australia, Sri Lanka through Indonesia east to New Caledonia.
