A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Sternula antillarum
found nesting on sandy beaches along the southern coasts of the United States and up the major river systems
There was a large area of beach roped off where a number of these tiny terns had nested. I sat behind a trashcan at the edge doing my best to not disturb them. Watched them for a while, seeing some courtship behavior, egg incubation, and juveniles being fed. (These photos are more behaviors, for shots of the bird see this spotting: https://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/89... )
