Ixoreus naevius
A large thrush with orange and black or dark gray plumage. The female's plumage is less defined with more gray and brown.
Spotted at the Ridgefield National Wildlife Refuge in southwestern Washington State. The area is a mix of Douglas fir and Gary oak mostly with some open meadows and dense understory in places along the Columbia River. This one was located in an oak tree which isn't surprising since one of their winter foods is acorns.
Range in western North America from Alaska to California.
