Fork-tailed Storm-Petrel

Oceanodroma furcata

Description:

Though not rare, they are typically only seen offshore so they aren't often observed by people in town. They are very small, gray, and they have a dark mask over their eyes. You can't see it well from the side, but they also have a tail that is longer at the outside tips than the center, which is where the name comes from.

Habitat:

A few miles offshore near Afognak Island.
