Cacyreus marshalli
Small butterfly, some 25mm of wingspan. The wings are brown/bronze with a white border outlining the wings. The underside is patterned, grey brown with darker bands interlaced with white.
Found feeding on heliotrope in our garden this summer. The garden is a Mediterranean one, constructed on terraces in urban area, and covered by some Mediterranean trees and wild vegetation (mainly herbaceous). During the summer, it is normally very dry, as we do not water it in summer, and most of vegetation rely on rains only; consequently, there are only very few hardy and resistant flowers we can observe there during summer. As said, this summer was an exception, nd the garden was rather green, with plenty of wild flowers we usually don't see at that time of the year - like this Heliotrope.
Many thanks to Martina for the help in IDing this beauty, with a reputation of being a pest for cultivated Pelargoniums and Geraniums - fortunately, we cultivate neither of them...
