Northern Redback Salamander

Plethodon cinereus

Description:

This salamander and was squirming like crazy when we found it. We then took many pictures of it and let it go. Did you know that in our forest that we were in every 2 meters there would be a Northern Redback Salamander. Probably underground, but...

Habitat:

This salamander was found in a log at Hutchins Marsh. It was in the Cedar-Spruce Seepage Forest (http://www.maine.gov/doc/nrimc/mnap/feat...). Click on that for a website about the Cedar spruce seepage forest.
