Spotting

Description:

A picture of what I think are wasps balled around a large bull ant, their are at least 7 wasps involved. The wasps are approx. 2.5cm long, after several minutes they separated and the ant walked away apparently unharmed.

Unfortunately I put the camera away before they separated. I like your idea though it would make a lot of sense. Hopefully someone else may have observed a similar behaviour.

Is it possible that there was a large female wasp that was surrounded by amorous males? Do you have any images of the "ant"? I am not familiar with the species in your area, but this is a really interesting spotting!
