Only red-billed duck with a dark crown and nape contrasting with pale cheeks and foreneck; rest of plummage largely brown above with pale feather edges producing a scaly effects; reddish beak and dark legs. Sexes alike Photo taken at Ndutu area, Tanzania

Habitat:

Shallow fresh water lakes, marshes and pools.
