Persicaria sp.
Erect plant with green stems. Spikes of pink flowers. Green lanceolate leaves. Doesn't match Lady's Thumb (Persicaria maculosa) since there are no dark spots on the leaves and the stems are green. Doesn't match Pennsylvania Smartweed (Persicaria pensylvanica) since stems are not hairy. Any suggestions?
Short Hills Provincial Park, Ontario. Woodland clearing.

Yeah, I started going through the list to ID it myself but decided it was beyond me to figure this one out. Maybe a smartweed expert will come along!
Well, the closest I can find is Persicaria hydropiperoides, but there is an issue.
It matches this description with images pretty spot on: http://www.radfordpl.org/wildwood/today/...
However, it doesn't match this at all: http://www.illinoiswildflowers.info/wetl...
I need a specialist!
Wow Sarah, that is some resource! 17 species of Persicaria to sort through, oy! Much thanks. :-)
Here is a list of Ontario flowers. The smart weeds are in genus persicaria. http://www.conservationontario.ca/events...
