Basil thyme

Acinos arvensis

Description:

Tiny flowering perennial plant with a really tiny (1 cm in diameter max) pinkish flower; flowers usually in terminal inflorescence, 2 to 8 flowers.

Habitat:

Grows on alpine pastures and meadows; in open land and under the direct sunlight. Discreet and small, it is easy to miss...

Notes:

Sometimes used in cooking - I heard of uses of flower (fresh) in salads, or the entire plant in sauces (could not verify the latter...), since the scent is faintly reminiscent of thyme.
