Carolina Wren nestlings.

Thryothorus ludovicianus

Description:

Mr and Mrs Carolina Wren decided to build a nest on my back porch. Actually Mr Wren did all the work. She just watched and encouraged him and inspected his labors. About a week later, she laid 4 tiny eggs. To our delight, they all hatched. Mama wasn't nervous around us as long as we moved slowly and didn't look directly at her, but Papa scolded and chattered every time we came out. Sadly, a corn snake found the nest. :( Mama Wren was visibly upset for quite a while... she'd go back to the nest and look in her nest for 3 days after!

Habitat:

My back porch. Former Sandhill habitat.
