Hermit Thrush

Catharus guttatus

Description:

About 17 cm (8.75 in) in length. Has a spotted breast, brown above with reddish/rusty tail.

Habitat:

Coniferous or mixed forests.

Notes:

We had a big wave of migrants moving through our backyard. It was hard to concentrate on work and other tasks with so many birds flying around. I'd just get started on something and several thrushes, hawks or something just beyond the patio door would distract me, but I'm not complaining. Had to keep the camera close at hand. Fun day....
