Black-crowned Night Heron; Martinete

Nycticorax nicticorax

Description:

Lots of pale patches in the thick bushy vegetation on the far bank of the river. Most people either ignored them or dismissed them as rubbish. Most were static with just the occasional movement which could be down to a gust of wind. I took some photos with my 800mm (equiv) lens and most turned out to be sub-adult or adult Black-crowned Night Herons

Habitat:

Densely vegetated riverbank in wetlands natural park.
