Ctenophorus fordi
Small rich brown coloured Ctenophorus lizard. SV length about 50mm (2") and tail about twice that. Back is light orange brown with a cream line running down torso only, bordered with rich chocolate and a grey lateral line running the length of the whole body.
Found in arid mallee scrub and especially around the base of porcupine grass in the Hattah-Kulkyne National Park in north Victoria, Australia. Camouflage was great and very hard to see unless they move.
Engaging little lizards. Quite shy at first but with a little patience this one put up with me photographing it. Usual response to my approach was to high tail it straight into the nearest clump of porcupine grass!

I like this spotting, Triggs...parts of that lizard blends pretty well with the background.
Hi Liana, thank you for your comment. You guys just have the greatest lizards. I didn't see any of them running on their back legs this time although I have seen some of the bigger species do it on occasions. My pleasure to share with you guys. Rob.
Thank you Polilla. Very busy time of year for me but hope to post more in the new year. Thank you for your support, it is much apprecoated.
Gold! Gorgeous little lizard. It's such a lovely experience when little critters sit tight and put up with you for a little bit. Did it high tail it on the back two legs at all?! Lizards look so cool when they do that. Wonderful spotting Rob. Thank you for sharing :)
