Baron Butterfly Caterpillar

Euthalia aconthea

Description:

Light green. The body has an extended lace-like frill all around it...as it lies around the mid-rib of the mango leaf, the caterpillar is almost invisible.

Habitat:

This caterpillar was almost about to pupate when it got entangled in spider web and debris. The debris was impossible to clean...I placed it back on its host mango tree in my yard and the next day it had pupated but ants got it. the Pupa was damaged by the time I saw it and turned black the next day. My rescue mission had failed.

Notes:

I had always wanted to see a Baron butterfly caterpillar as I often see the adults because they come to sip the juices from the fruits I put out for the civet cat.....but my first sighting was such a tragedy.
