Brown Anole

Anolis sagrei

Description:

Photo take at home one of the many Brown Anoles living around the garden. this one likes the kitchen window. About 12 cm long brown color that it can switch to black or whit some gray brown patterns. This species is highly invasive. In its introduced range it reaches exceptionally high population densities, is capable of expanding its range at an exponential rate, and both out competes and consumes many species of native lizards.

Habitat:

Is a lizard native to Cuba and the Bahamas. It has been widely introduced elsewhere, and is now found in Florida and as far north as southern Georgia, Texas, Taiwan, Hawaii, Southern California, and other Caribbean islands.

Notes:

As a defense mechanism, Brown Anoles can detach most of their tails when pursued or captured. The piece that breaks off will continue to move, hopefully distracting the predator allowing the anole to escape. Wikipedia
