Sea Mat Zoanthid

Palythoa tuberculosa

Description:

Zoanthids construct powerful toxins to protect themselves and their eggs. The toxins are so effective that coastal peoples would tip the points of their spears into this coral to create a weapon that could paralyse or kill prey. They say that if someone is poisoned by this coral, you need to inject the antidote directly into their hearts to save them. Guardian: Natasha Kanolik
