Description:

A large ground beetle with dark chocolate coloured elytra, golden hairs at junctures. Approximately 30mm long. Also 6 larvae which seemed to be associated with this beetle.

Habitat:

Under a large and damp eucalyptus log within suburbia.

Notes:

Also known as Passalid beetle and Bess beetle although not the same species as elsewhere in the world.
