Also known as Long-tailed Cormorant, this is a small all black cormorant some 50 cm in length.


This is a common and widespread African species, common resident all over sub-Saharan Africa. It breeds on freshwater wetlands or quiet coasts - such is here, in marshes in urban environment of Port Harcourt of Nigeria. The same wetlands were close to center, and are a breeding ground for a variety of egrets and herons...
