Notes:

She came out of the ocean and stayed on the beach for several days. She had been spotted in Montauk a few days prior to us seeing her.

doctors and scientists from the Riverhead foundation 24 hour hotline came to make sure that the seal was all right.

Interesting find! Here on Long Island (I live on Long Island as well), you can contact the Riverhead Foundation's 24 hour hotline if there are stranded sea animals. They will come and observe the animal and if they determine that it needs assistance they will rescue it and take it to their facility for treatment/rehabilitation, etc.
