Red bracket polypores on a rotting tree trunk. Largest specimens approx. 5-6 cms in diameter. Pale, well-defined margin, and white pores. About 50 individual brackets. This is the only location along the creek course that I saw this species of fungi.
Spotted by Enoggera Creek on a trail at margin of native rainforest, in the Brisbane Forest Park. Well-shaded area, dense undergrowth, and running water. Area floods with heavy rains, and creek becomes a torrent. Much debris from recent flooding found at this location.
I returned to this area approximately 6 months after I made this spotting, and everything had gone. Massive storms caused flash flooding, and everything was washed away.
