Moth

Description:

Rather like a stealth-bomber in shape. Faded brown with splotchy marks. Can see how it would blend on a tree bark covered with lichens or fungus. Wing tips are thin, mildly pointy, downwardly directed and dirty ash in colour.

Habitat:

Drawn towards the light of the stairs to the dining hall of Neora Valley Jungle Camp at Village Kolakham; a remote, forested area situated at an altitude of 1868m in the Kalimpong Hills of Darjeeling District, on the fringes of Neora Valley National Park.

Notes:

The lights on the staircase leading to the cottages/dining hall etc., are attached to bamboo poles and different species of moths almost cover those and the bushes below. They flutter and get into your hair and mouth and many are squashed underfoot.
