Hooded Mergansers

Lophodytes cucullatus

Description:

The Hooded Mergansers are back! I only saw them a couple of times last year, but this year they appear to be wintering at this pond. These pictures capture 3 pairs, and you can see both sexes showing their lovely crests.

Notes:

Spotted at a wooded detention/retention pond in an office building complex in Kennesaw, GA.
