Description:

A Butterfly I found when opening the Door. About 10 cm wide. Female Thanks you Jellis for identifying, I basically never see Butterflies and this was a Beauty.

Just like how original Monarch Butterflies originally went to America I think but Australia gets rare visitors!

This is a female and males are darker black with less color. Definitely our largest species. I saw several in Sydney last month. You're lucky to have one landed but they will stop if they're distracted by egg laying or mating. They are a rare visitor to Melbourne but I did see one here last week!
