This particular plant was seen while venturing off-road outside of Albuquerque, NM.
Thanks, Aaron! You're right. The Carolina Horsenettle's description certainly seems to accurately portray the plant I had seen!
We have this species in Oklahoma and I know it's becoming a widespread plant. I'm not sure if it's exactly what you are seeing but this should be a start. :-)
