Cotttonmouth

Agkistrodon piscivorus

Description:

Juvenile Cottonmouth. I was with a group of Herps and other specialists in Ashland City Tn when I captured this beautiful Cottonmouth. I had stepped within a foot from this snake before spotting it. I find these snakes to be NON aggressive. Others often claim that this type of snake is aggressive and end up killing the snake. This is untrue. All it takes is for a few seconds after crossing paths with the snakes, For the snake to move on. Live and let live.

Hahaha...as squirmy as Karen and I am, we are not herps...I am a herpetologist and we do go looking for herps (reptiles and amphibians), but the correct term would be herpers.
