Hartlaub's Gull

Chroicocephalus hartlaubii

Description:

This poor gull is a victim of either animal cruelty or pollution on the coast. It was bobbing along with the other gulls eating and seemingly fine, but as you can see in pic 4 it is disabled and has no feet. Very sad

ag shame, thank you for the info Malcolm, I felt so sorry for this one!

This can also be caused by fish or marine animals (crocodiles/alligators). I have "seen" crocodiles grabbing the legs of waders along the edges of lagoons in Sri Lanka - they try to pull them under to drown them but sometimes just get a foot or leg.
