Ok, got it! So my book arrived and Im happily ID'ing my bugs. Sadly only insects in this book, not too many moths and no spiders... will have to look out for more books. Thank you Bayucca. I check up on the eggs I found in the same tree every day awaiting the hatchlings, the eggs I found has tiny spikes round the edges almost invisible to the naked eye. Hope I catch them in time! http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/149...
ok, so today i found many shield bugs, many eggs, one instar and i am afraid ill need much help - still no book ;( will link you into the spots as i add
Little help... Nezara viridula has too very tiny little BLACK dots at both sides of the scutellum, like yours! Chinavia hilaris which is in the meanwhile also a global species has only pale spots. Since you have still and only your books of stamps of the world I let you nevertheless pass my little test ;-)...
The larger, brighter green species that live in both the Old and New Worlds should actually go by the genus name Chinavia, therefore this species should be called Chinavia hilaris - very interesting. the link i mentioned above has pics of eggs and third instar i believe i have seen in the garden - i just need to double check that photo. i googled "green shield bug south africa" (still awaiting my book) and that one was the closest. also dont think it had such a defined yellow line around body. but then again the photo's where taken on a cloudy day, and I dont know how to work this camera then. so much to learn... of photography and insects still!
