Vulpes vulpes
This young fox is a shade of yellowish red. There is a trace of black in the fur of the middle of the back and in the bushy tail, the feet are black. The throat, underside of the body and tip of the tail are white. It was a rainy day, so the fur on the back of the fox is wet.
Spotted near South Tamarac Lake. Red foxes live in a variety of habitats in Minnesota, but prefer semi-open country to thick wooded areas.
Red fox are usually born in March or April in Minnesota. The young fox are called kits.
