Pencil Cactus

Euphorbia tirucalli

Description:

This is probably my most dangerous house plant. To no fault of the person that gave it to me. The sap of this plant is highly toxic. Contact with the skin burns, getting it in your eyes can blind you, and ingesting it can kill you. My panda plant is toxic too but not to this degree. Still love it, though I have it quarantined a bit. They're also called "sticks on fire" because when in sun they turn red (like a lot of plants I've learned). Despite the name, they aren't a cactus.

Habitat:

It has a wide distribution in Africa, being prominently present in northeastern, central and southern Africa. It may also be native in other parts of the continent as well as some surrounding islands and the Arabian peninsula and has been introduced to many other tropical regions.
