Green Sea Turtle

Chelonia mydas

Notes:

We were so lucky to stumble upon this sea turtle just resting on some rocks. It did not seem concerned with us at all - only closing its eyes when a wave came crashing.

@LivesInADream - I just saw your comment and had to research it. Very peculiar, but you are absolutely right! Found an interesting fact file about it here if anyone's interested :) http://www.fpir.noaa.gov/Library/PRD/Sea...

Green sea turtles often come onto land in the area to rest and sunbathe :)

Hi Audrey, I forgot to reply - but I guess that is a good sign, if he/she was gone I mean :) Regardless a beautiful animal and great shots.

On our way back we didn't see it, so I'm assuming it made it back into the water. He wasn't stuck in the rocks, but I cannot know if he was sick or not. I certainly hope not :(

Hi Audrey, what a beautiful sea turtle. Did you ever go back to see if it was still there? He/she might be trapped or sick as sea turtles very rarely (unless laying eggs) go on to land. Unless you know something that I don't!
