Description:

The juveniles of this species are much more brightly patterened than the adults, with lots of yellow, red, and black.

Habitat:

They are found in the southeastern US, from Florida to Texas in aquatic habitats.

Notes:

These two juveniles were found at a pond in the park in my dads neighborhood.

Aha, that solves a bit of a mystery for me Ashley! Thanks for letting me know. I knew you knew the scientific name just couldn't figure out why it was omitted:-)

Anytime I add a spotting from my phone, the scientic name doesn't show up, then I forget sometimes to go and add it when I get to my computer later, thanks for noticing Lisa :) I'll add it now.
And no Argy I don't think so, I was just walking next to a pond and they were just sitting there, never moved
