Noble False Widow

Steatoda nobilis

Description:

A pretty big noble false widow. I'll be honest I have no idea how this or any of the steatoda genus could be mistaken for a black widow enough to be named false widows. Its venom is noted to be painful but only as potent as a wasp sting. Still a pretty spider.

Habitat:

Native to Madeira and the Canary Islands from where it allegedly spread to Europe, and can be found in the US, South America, and a good chunk of other places.
