Brewer's Sparrow

Spizella breweri

Habitat:

desert

Notes:

This is a bad picture with a good story to go with it! My brother and I were on a bike ride in one of my favorite birding patches and I stopped along the road to listen. I could hear the bubbly chirps of dozens of sparrows in the desert scrub to my left. I've never heard so many birds singing at once in my life! From what I could see, there were only Black-throated and Brewer's Sparrows present. The thing is that none of the sparrows would perch on the snag as usual, so I had to wait for one to surface out the scrub for a snack and then pop off a few clicks. After 10 minutes, I decided to head down the trail for better photo ops.

Thanks! I don't always have anything interesting to say, but when I do, I say it!

Nice spotting, Joshua. The photo is fine, and the notes excellent. I love to read about people's spotting experiences, but it's something few actually include. Cheers for sharing yours :)
