Spring Gentian

Gentiana verna


One of the smallest gentians, growing from an underground stem up to few centimeters in height - here some 10-12cm. Above the ground, it produces stems with 2 to 3 pairs of leaves, terminated by a blue flower, about 3cm in diameter.


Found on montane meadows and pastures.
